The Shop

Crossroads Inverness Shop

Crossroads was the first to open a charity shop in Inverness. Now it is one of many in the city centre. As the competition has increased Crossroads has had to find ways to be appealing to the shopper, so recently the shop was given a complete make-over which has made it a much brighter place to visit.

The shop has also a reputation for selling hand knits, mostly for children, although now and then there are adult arans. All the hand knits are made by volunteers; most of the knitters have been doing this for Crossroads for many years, also contributing to some of our bigger events.

We also supply a number of new items, unique to the shop. Our large selection of Walkers Shortbread products and walking sticks has added to the appeal for our shoppers.

Crossroads is extremely lucky in our volunteers who work in the shop. Some of them have worked here for many years and also help out in events like the Marymas Fair and Soup and Sandwich lunches. We also offer a volunteer collection service, whereby a pool of volunteers is available to collect donations from people’s homes, if they are unable to bring them into the shop themselves. We are extremely lucky with the support we receive from the people of Inverness as we are given huge amounts of excellent clothes and bric-a-brac, which are sold in the shop.

The shop has been present for over 15 years, supporting the charity year on year. This has been possible due to the continuous support of our caring and devoted volunteers who give the shop their time, some for an hour, others several times a week. We rarely have any leave and some have given over 25 years support to the charity in many different areas.

If you would like to know more about our shop and how we can support the time you can give us, then please call Mandy Bredenkamp our shop organiser, for a friendly chat, Tel. 01463 242735.
